Battle Tower Brain: Aldric

Late to the party, but always ready to battle. Get ready for a tough fight.

General Info:

Name: Aldric Black
Age: 23
Hometown: Lilycove, Hoenn
Personality: Aldric's a serious trainer who doesn't have time to goof around. He trains daily and gives it 100%, and he expects the same from his pokemon. He rarely talks, except to the others Battle Brains, and is always straight to the point and can come off as rude due to his bluntness. Aldric is always thinking and in battles he's extremely calculating, constantly coming up with new strategies to adapt to each situation. To Aldric, the strongest trainer is the best trainer and he strives to be nothing less.

Background: Born in Lilycove, Aldric's father was a famous boxer and Aldric was trained to follow in his footsteps. Once he reached his teens, Aldric began competing in boxing tournaments and excelled at fighting. He was well on his way to becoming one of the best boxers in Hoenn, just like his father.

Unfortunately, when Aldric was 19 he was involved in a horrible motorcycle accident where he was hit by a drunk driver and thrown from his bike. Aldric suffered serious injuries and as a result of the accident his right arm experiences frequent bouts of pain and can be rather stiff, which makes moving it difficult at times. The accident is also where Aldric obtained the scars on his face (one over his eye and the other on his cheek)as well. Despite extensive physical therapy, Aldric could never regain the movement he once had with his right arm, thus putting an end to his boxing career.

For over a month, Aldric would spend all of his time at the nearby Mt. Pyre moping, even contemplating ending his life, until one day, a Duskull began to follow him around. Everyday the little Duskull would hover around Aldric, even fending off other ghost pokemon who would try and bother him, and at times, would even sit contently in Aldric's lap. Aldric was so touched by how much the Duskull's cared for him, he quit his moping, captured the Duskull and decided that if he couldn't be the best fighter out there, he could certainly train a pokemon team to be the best fighters instead.

Reason for Pokemon's Names: Aldric has a special way of training his pokemon; besides just the normal level grinding, Aldric set up a ranking system within his team. To the strongest pokemon goes the rank of King and to the weakest, the rank of Pawn. A pokemon may challenge the pokemon above them for their rank and if they challenging pokemon wins, they move up the ranks while the loosing pokemon is demoted.

Some people consider this to be quite cruel that Aldric makes his pokemon compete against one another, but no one can deny that this odd training method has resulted in creating a strong team and that their highly competitive nature makes them tough to beat.

Pokemon:

King/Dusknoir ♂
Aldric's first and strongest pokemon, King is almost identical in personality to Aldric: quiet, but calculating. King rules over the other members of the team and he never lets them forget it.

Queen/Altaria ♀
Caught soon after King, Queen is the strongest female of the team. She's happy go lucky and is the only pokemon who couldn't care less about the ranking system.

Rook/Empoleon ♂
A more recent addition to the team, Rook quickly moved up the ranks jumping from Pawn to Rook in one day. He desires the position of King greatly, but has been unable to beat Queen several times.

Knight/Rapidash ♀
The only other female on the team, Knight feels like she has to work twice as hard to get noticed in a male driven team. Knight wishes to one day earn the position of King, but unlike Bishop, she's well aware of her limits and knows she'll never beat Rook.

Bishop/Bisharp ♂
The former Rook, he was recently bumped down to the rank of Bishop much to his chagrin. The most competitive member of the entire team, Bishop's overwhelming desire to gain the rank of King causes him to get along poorly with his teammates. He has a strong rivalry with Rook, Knight and Pawn.

Pawn/Roserade ♂
The youngest member of the team, Pawn is having no luck in gaining ranks anytime soon and often becomes Bishop's punching bag. Pawn hates Bishop with a passion and wants nothing more than to beat the crap out of Bishop.

Additional Info:
-Aldric has a huge scar on his right arm from the accident and it's the reason he always keeps his arm constantly bandaged: he can't stand to look at the scar and be reminded that he can't box anymore.
-Aldric supposedly has a crush on someone at UBF, but he'll never admit it.
-During his off time, Aldric works as a personal trainer for some big time celebrities.
-Aldric had started off his journey in Hoenn, then went to Unova, then to Kanto, to Sinnoh and then finally back to Hoenn. He's never been to Johto.
-Aldric received Rook as a gift from his ex-girlfriend.
-Aldric secretly likes romance novels, but he'll never admit this either.
